Google Merchant Center reports Mismatched product availability when the availability in your product data does not match the availability shown on the product's landing page, for example in_stock in the feed while the page says sold out (Google Merchant Center Help, How to fix: Mismatched product availability). Affected products are disapproved until the two agree, so the fix is to correct the values and then keep your feed updated as often as your stock changes.
Why the feed and the page disagree
Google crawls your landing pages and compares what it finds with the availability you submitted. Google names the usual cause directly: the time difference between updates on your website and updates to your Merchant Center product data (Google Merchant Center Help, How to fix: Mismatched product availability). A product sells out at noon, the feed is only refreshed overnight, and for those hours the feed still says in_stock.
Google asks for the same availability everywhere a shopper sees it: the landing page, structured data, checkout and your product data. A mismatch in any one of them triggers a product disapproval (Google Merchant Center Help, Availability [availability]).
Google also notes that a flagged product's availability may have changed since the comparison, so it may already match by the time you look (same source as above).
How to fix mismatched availability
Google's steps for a few products (Google Merchant Center Help, How to fix: Mismatched product availability):
- In Merchant Center, open Products and select the Needs attention tab.
- Filter to the affected products, click a product title and select Edit product.
- Set availability to match the landing page and select Save.
For many products, download the .csv list of affected products from the same tab, correct the availability values in your product data so they match your landing pages, and upload the data again.
After fixing, you can request a website check to speed up re-approval; otherwise Google reviews the products automatically later. Google may take up to 12 hours to review your website, and you cannot submit another request in that time (same source).
Stop it coming back: update the feed as often as stock changes
A one-off correction does not help if the next upload is stale again. Google recommends scheduling product data updates to coincide with your website updates, and using automatic item updates if that is not possible or if prices and availability change often (Google Merchant Center Help, How to fix: Mismatched product availability).
- Automatic item updates let Merchant Center update availability, price and condition from your landing pages. As of October 2026, Google says automations are enabled by default (under Products > Automations), work best with structured data markup for price, availability and condition, are not a replacement for regular product data updates, and that a product may be disapproved instead of updated when Google detects a mismatch (Google Merchant Center Help, Allow Merchant Center to update product information automatically).
- Structured data. In product markup, Google's
availabilityproperty takes schema.org values such ashttps://schema.org/InStockandhttps://schema.org/OutOfStock(Google Search Central, Product snippet structured data). Make sure your theme or plugin outputs the same status the page shows. - Feed refresh schedule. If Product Feed Master builds your Google feed, set the import from your store and the export to Google on a sync schedule frequent enough for how fast your stock moves, with the import running shortly before the export. Your plan sets the shortest interval (plans & limits).
Don't use out_of_stock to hide products
Setting out_of_stock on products you simply don't want advertised creates its own mismatches when the page still sells them. Google says to use the pause attribute to stop showing a product for up to 14 days, or the excluded_destination attribute for longer periods (Google Merchant Center Help, How to fix: Mismatched product availability).
Account risk
Mismatches are more than a product-level problem. Google warns that too many products with incorrect availability can lead to account suspension (Google Merchant Center Help, How to fix: Mismatched product availability). If the issue keeps returning, fix the update process, not just the products.
Frequently asked questions
Is mismatched availability the same as invalid availability?
No. Invalid availability means the value itself is not one Google accepts; mismatched availability means the value is valid but differs from your product page. See invalid product availability.
How long does re-approval take after I fix it?
Google may take up to 12 hours to review your website after you request a website check. Without a request, products are reviewed automatically later.
Can a feed checker find availability mismatches?
Only partly. A file check can confirm your availability values are valid, but a mismatch depends on what Google sees on the live product page, so it only shows up after Google crawls the page.
