Google Merchant Center raises an invalid or missing price issue when a product has no usable price: the attribute is empty, the price is 0 or below, or the currency code is not valid. Every product needs a price to show in ads or free listings (Google Merchant Center Help, How to fix: Missing product price), written as a number plus an ISO 4217 currency code such as 15.00 USD (Google Merchant Center Help, Price [price]).

Which price issue do you have?

As of October 2026, Merchant Center reports four separate price issues on the Needs attention tab:

Issue What it means
Missing product price One or more products have no valid price attribute; they won't show in ads or free listings until a price is added (Google Merchant Center Help, How to fix: Missing product price).
Invalid product price The product's price is 0 or below (Google Merchant Center Help, How to fix: Invalid product price).
Invalid currency The currency code is invalid or unsupported; use the code for the country of sale, for example EUR or CAD (Google Merchant Center Help, How to fix: Invalid Currency).
Invalid sale price The sale_price is 0 or less (Google Merchant Center Help, How to fix: Invalid sale price).

If the price is valid but differs from your product page, that is a different issue: see Google Merchant Center price mismatch.

Google's price format

The price attribute is a number plus an ISO 4217 currency code (Google Merchant Center Help, Price [price]):

  • Text (CSV or TSV) feeds: 15.00 USD. XML feeds use the same value inside the g:price element.
  • Use no more than 2 digits after the decimal point; Google rounds extra digits (1.0234 becomes 1.02).
  • Match the amount and currency on your landing page and checkout pages.
  • Don't include shipping costs, or import- or export-related costs, in the price.
  • For the US and Canada, don't include taxes in the price; for countries such as Australia, Germany, Japan and the UK, include VAT or GST.

A common cause of missing currency codes is a store export that writes a bare number (29.99) or a currency symbol ($29.99). Google's examples always use the three-letter code.

When a price of 0 is allowed

Google allows a price of 0 only in narrow cases: mobile phones or tablets sold on a monthly instalment or subscription plan with no up-front payment, though not in Latin American countries (Google Merchant Center Help, How to fix: Invalid product price), and physical goods subscriptions, where Google ignores the 0 and you use the subscription cost attribute instead (Google Merchant Center Help, Price [price]).

How to fix price issues

Google gives the same two routes for each price issue (Google Merchant Center Help, How to fix: Missing product price):

  1. A few products: in Merchant Center open Products > Needs attention, filter to the affected products, select Edit product, enter a valid price (above 0, with a valid currency for the country of sale) and select Save.
  2. Many products: download the list of affected products as a .csv file, correct the price in your product data source, and upload it again with your usual method.

Google says changes may take 24–72 hours to be reflected on the Needs attention page (same source).

As with any feed error, a manual edit in Merchant Center is overwritten by the next upload if the source still sends the bad value. Fix the price where the feed is built.

Fix price formats once in Product Feed Master

Product Feed Master reads prices such as 29.99 USD, $29.99 or 1,299.00 into a plain amount when it imports your feed and remembers the feed's currency. The Google feed it publishes writes every price back in Google's format, with the currency code, using the currency transformation rule on the price columns. If your source has no currency at all, you set the feed currency once when you publish. See how to create a Google Merchant Center feed URL.

Before you upload anywhere, the free feed checker lists every product with a missing price, a price of 0 or below, or a price without a currency code.

Google's Invalid sale price issue means the sale_price is 0 or less. Submit a sale price above 0 in the same currency as your landing page.

How long until the price error clears?
